Real estate agents and social workers slept outside Thursday night at Ryan Hummert Park to raise awareness of homeless teens and to raise money for Covenant House, a national organization that fights youth and teen homelessness.

The agents, from Clarity Realty, said the night outside in the cold made them realize what homeless teens go through, but recognized that they were well-fed, had warm sleeping bags and a home to go to in the morning.

The Post donated chili and Strange Donuts brought donuts in the morning. They also had s’mores as they sat around their fire.

The group raised $1,500 for Covenant House. Two social workers from Olympia, Washington, were among those who donated, and came to Maplewood to spend the night outside.

Two of the group spent the night in this cardboard hut. Others considered going into the restroom for the night.
Two from Olympia, Washington, slept nearby.
