There is a ballot shortage on voting day in St. Louis County affecting more than 20 precincts, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
St. Louis County Elections Director Eric Fey said the problem is different ballot styles at the same precinct — different issues to vote on at one precinct. The precinct may have needed 20 ballots of one style and 200 of another, for example, but the numbers were reversed.
Fey said the issue should be resolved in a few hours. “Our printer is compiling more,” he told the Post-Dispatch. He said he learned about the problem at about 6 a.m., just as the voting began.
Update: The polling place at The Heights was close to running out of ballots, but more were delivered before it ran out, according to Richmond Heights Mayor Jim Beck, who was there.
Voters can vote at their precinct later in the day or until at the Board of Elections office, at 12 Sunnen Drive, in Maplewood until 7 p.m.
