Southwest Avenue between McCausland and Bellevue avenues is expected to remain closed through January, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Crews contracted by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District are installing two sewer lines. Rain, hard rock and unexpected utility locations have delayed the project, MSD told the Post-Dispatch. The road was expected to reopen mid-July.
The work is part of MSD’s Project Clear, which will handle rainfall, while the existing line will continue to handle wastewater flow.
