Maplewood resident, Jaime Mowers, runs a “kindness project” called Buzzing Love, which encourages random (or not-so-random) acts of kindness! Buzzing Love is gearing up for their big day of kindness,“Buzzing Love Day,” on Saturday, June 29, including a celebration of kindness that day in Sutton Loop Park.

Buzzing Love encourages acts of kindness every day, but June 29th is our special day to encourage people all over the world, wherever they may be, to join us in participating in acts of kindness, then share it with us on social media using the hashtag #buzzinglove … because the world could use a lot more KINDNESS.
We’ve been featured on the local news highlighting our big day, which has encouraged hundreds – and possibly thousands – of people to participate in acts of kindness on Buzzing Love Day. People have volunteered at or donated to countless nonprofit organizations in St. Louis and across the country, baked dozens of cookies to share with others, treated strangers to coffee, left an extra dollar on the vending machine for the next person, sent mail all over the U.S. to lift someone else’s spirits, left quarters at car washes, made birthday parties possible for children who wouldn’t otherwise have one, given clothes and food to homeless shelters, and so much more!
We have also encouraged and spread a lot of kindness right here in Maplewood, as my husband and I live here, and we absolutely love this amazing community of such great people and businesses! My dad, who Buzzing Love was founded for, was a Maplewood resident most of his life and grew up on Flora. There is a bench dedicated to him in Sutton Loop Park. I’ve also asked several of the businesses in Maplewood to help us spread kindness that day by putting out Buzzing Love bracelets and info cards!
As part of our kindness on Buzzing Love Day this year, we’re hosting a Buzzing Love Party In the Park – A Celebration of Kindness from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Sutton Loop Park on June 29! We hope you’ll join us! Buzzing Love will be treating everyone to cool drinks and frozen treats!! We’ll have fun stuff for the kids including a face painter who will be Buzzing Love with us by painting our Buzzing Love bee on anyone who wants one, hula hoops, games and more! So bring the fam or just swing by whenever you can!!
