Sports Authority employees: Brentwood store not closing

Some area Sports Authority stores may be closing as early as March, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Wednesday. The company plans to file for bankruptcy, closing 150 to 200 of its 450 stores nationwide.

An employee at the Brentwood store (8340 Eager Road) referred the Post-Dispatch reporter’s question to its corporate office. Sports Authority, owned by private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners LP, declined to comment to the reporter.

However two employees at the Brentwood store, when asked in person (by 40 South) if the store is closing, said it is staying open. One said at least three of the larger stores in the St. Louis area, which includes Brentwood, will not close at this time.
