Flowers to be planted in the park.

Sutton Loop Park will be completed on July 3, according to Maplewood Public Works Director Anthony Traxler. That’s in plenty of time for Let Them Eat Art (July 11) and almost in time for the first Yoga Rocks the Park (June 28).

Because of the conflict, the June 28 Yoga Rocks the Park will be held on the Maplewood Richmond Heights field. The yoga events will continue through the summer at Sutton Park on Saturday evenings.

The park improvements were close to on schedule, considering the weather and a slight delay as the city decided the fate of the shelter, which was discovered not to have a sufficient foundation. City officials voted to reinforce the foundation and keep the shelter.

Plantings are going in, and a new sidewalk around the park is completed.

Today a crew was breaking up a planter on Sutton Boulevard off the curb at the south end of the park. It will be rebuilt closer to the curb.
