On Tuesday St. Louis Symphony musicians began a 6-week program, ‘Symphony in Your School’, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School.
Music teacher, Denise Dolan, applied to the symphony for the program, and Saint Mary Magdalen was one of eight schools chosen in the Saint Louis area.
The program promotes participation and interaction with various forms of music. This week’s topic, “Instrument Playground,” familiarized the students with the instrument families; strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion.
The musicians brought a “hands-on” kit of instruments, and the students had the opportunity to create sound on real orchestra instruments.
