Maplewood United Church of Christ UCC has been working on developing more community partnering and collaboration to expand the ‘Food Pantry Bucket Garden’ for 2014!
The church is currently a host site for University of Missouri Extension Family Nutrition Education programming and was very excited when the organization announced that the opportunity of a garden based nutrition education curriculum that will be taking root this spring. This has potential to be a nice ingredient to supporting these garden based efforts to help educate and promote fresh food access in the community, is a natural complement with the variety of other efforts that are also occurring.
These collaborations also have included interest from The Salvation Army Maplewood Corps, Immaculate Conception SVDP Food Pantry, other churches and community leaders which include a talented local Master Gardener.
Though it may be very cold outside right now, 2014 the has promise of being a great season with lots of local flavor.
