Two were charged with theft in separate incidents at Walmart in Maplewood on June 23, according to police and court records.

Angela Delois Craig, 42, of St. Louis, was charged for a third time for stealing, on June 23, at the Walmart store in Maplewood. Craig selected items and put them in a bag and walked past all point of sale without paying. She was caught at the door and the stolen merchandise was recovered. She confessed to the theft.

William Ratliff, 41, of St. Louis, was charged with stealing an Apple iPhone left on a counter on June 23 at the Maplewood Walmart. The victim accidentally left his phone on a counter when he was paying for merchandise. When he realized what he did he went back, and it was gone. He asked Ratliff if he had seen the phone and he said he did not. A review of security video saw him pick up the victim’s phone and put it in his pocket. After finishing his purchase, and speaking with the victim, he left the store. The victim identified Ratliff from a photo lineup. He was arrested two weeks later and confessed to stealing the phone.

  1. Not only are the lines miserable but I’ve personally seen customers pocket merchandise while in the line-several times! By the time I get to the front of the line, the cashier says Oh, really? I’ve reported what I’ve seen to management to no avail. The shortage at this store must be ridiculous!

  2. I go to Maplewood Walmart about once a month and have never had any issues whatsoever. I’m sorry to hear the rest of you have. Perhaps you set yourselves up for such treatment. Are you by any chance Trump supporters? I’m not here to judge, though…

    • Max, I am not a Trump supporter. I am complaining about the number of times our Police Officers have to make calls at the Maplewood Walmart. As I stated before they are a public nuisance.
I avoid the store because it is dirty, customer service is deplorable and the lanes are long. I had to go there to buy something for a family member one time. I was looking at shirts and folding them before placing them back on a shelf. Three times I was asked if I worked there! I was not well dressed, I was wearing old jeans and a old shirt. The real employee was a few feet away, not once did she speak up and say I work here, how can I help you. That in a nutshell is one of the reasons why I avoid that store.

  3. On more than one occasion I noticed someone steeling something at this Walmart, I told the staff and pointed them out and nothing was done , on one occasion the manager said ya it happens all the time and did nothing to stop them .

  4. So do we still take this crap? Why not meet up with other like minded people and demand that the Maplewood Walmart be declared a public nuisance. If you or I had as many police calls made to our homes as Walmart does, we would be declared a public nuisance.

  5. On more than one occasion I have seen the Maplewood PD take down a perp in Wally’s parking lot as they tried to hot foot it across Hanley to make a speedy exit on the Metrolink with their shoplifted merchandise.

  6. How much money is being spent on police protection for the Maplewood Wal Mart? It is not uncommon to 1 or 2 and even 3 or 4 Maplewood police cars parked in front of the store. Is the rest of Maplewood getting less police coverage because all the resources are poured into that dump?
And don’t even get me started on times when the Maplewood Wal Mart is very busy and only has 2 or 3 checkout lanes open.

  7. Wait did you just hear that? It was not the prices falling like in Wal-Mart’s old commercial’s. It was two Shoplifters going down. Lookout, they will be back before next week. In Saudi Arabia when they caught a thief they would cut of the hands. I guess they may still use that as a punishment. The more they steal the more the prices increase, then it is passed on to the good people who shop at Wal-Mart.

  8. Walmart attracts the wrong element. Petty crimes and theft run rampant in the store. The Shrewsbury one will also go downhill fast given its proximity to the MetroLink hub on Lansdowne.

    • Shrewsbury Walmart is already going down hill sad to say. Rude employees, poorly stocked shelves and it’s turning into a Maplewood Walmart! I was in there the other night to get a few things and had to go around two employees heavily making out in the middle of the isle. These employees were acting like teenagers, they were in their 30’s at least! Stupid manager just walked right past them and did nothing. I’ve also been called a stupid cracker by an older woman at the door, sad she thinks that way let alone couldn’t even get my race right. She’s make sneed comments to “other” colored shoppers as well, once again nothing done about it.. Guess I’m going to start driving down to Fenton till these stores are bought back up to standards.

      • I don’t shop other than on line. It is inconceivable that a clerk would make such rude, no..ignorant…remarks to anyone, but a client? This should be reported to personnel …people are not allowed to speak in this way to anyone. I do have to smile at your recognition of just who ‘crackers’ are !

        • Yes, but it is true. Many of the employees there openly talk about customers in terms that would make you blush. They are emboldened by the BLM movement is my guess.

  9. This Walmart has been slowly deteratering over the years. It used to be a great store to shop. I no longer patronise this store.

  10. Walmart is a theft in progress.. I’m so tired of paying for other people’s mistakes… I’m being nice… Clearly something has to be done… Lock Em up throw away the key.. I don’t need the scum…
