Sherif Gharib, 27, of St. Louis, has been charged with stealing a plastic welder kit and a phone charger from Westlake Ace Hardware, in Brentwood, and also with possession of heroin, according to police and court records.
Brentwood police responded to the parking lot of the Westlake Ace Hardware store for a reported theft allegedly committed by a female suspect from the nearby Mobil on the Run. The defendant (Gharib) was present when police questioned her.
During this process an employee of the hardware store came onto the parking lot and said he recognized Gharib from a theft that had occurred at the store the previous day. Police found a plastic welder kit and a phone charger in Gharib’s backpack, along with a syringe containing what was determined to be heroin.
