Maplewood Public Library is hosting events on gardening, healthy eating, yoga and outer space; and see an art show featuring plastics — and its overabundance in our lives.

Plastic Nation – the trashing of America: an art show — Plastic Nation is an art show about the overabundance of plastic, how it can be upcycled creatively and most importantly, how it’s trashing our plant and especially or oceans, Stone Spiral Coffee, March 10, 6 p.m.

Best Gardening Practices for a Sustainable Garden — This program offers an outline of sustainable/organic practices for use in your home garden to create an attractive, peaceful garden that rarely needs pruning, watering, fertilizing, or pest control. Maplewood Public Library, March 15, 6:30 p.m.

Spring Into Healthy Eating — Join us for a fun night of easy cooking and exploring healthy spring vegetables. You will be able to share and learn with us how to incorporate them into your diet. Come and try our Vegetable Flatbread and Spring Greens Rice Bowl! Presented by students of Saint Louis University’s Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. Maplewood Public Library, March 22, 6:30 p.m.

Garden Upcycling — Green your garden this spring with upcycled crafts! Learn how to attract native pollinators to your garden as you create with reused materials. Perennial staff will present a variety of sustainable garden crafts and practices, followed by hands-on projects for you to take home and use. Maplewood Public Library, March 29, 6:30 p.m.

Relaxation for a Healthy Mind and a Healthy Body — Join Kelly Hogan for an evening of softening into the calming practice of yoga. Put your comfy clothes on and enjoy an hour of learning how to calm your mind through gentle movements and simple breathing exercises. Maplewood Public Library, April 4, 6 p.m.

Space Spin-Offs: There’s More Space in Your Life Than You Realize! — Yuri Gagarin became the first human in Space in 1961 and since then more than 500 people have traveled to Space. Humans have lived continuously in the International Space Station (ISS) since November 2000. The Space Program has delivered gorgeous photos and many “Space Spinoff,” products that were developed with the help of NASA. Come and celebrate human adventures in Space with our special Yuri’s Night event which includes space-y snacks and a talk about Space Spinoffs. Maplewood Public Library, April 5, 6 p.m.

    Is there a date for the Garden Upcycling? Also do you know if any of these have a cost or the need to RSVP?
    Also, do you have any links to share for the events for us to get more information?

    • John, for each of these events, the title, in blue, is a link for more info. FYI the Garden Upcycling is at the Maplewood library on March 29 at 6:30pm. And they’re all free. Also, these events and others can be found on the events calendar on the left side of this page, toward the bottom. Thanks
