“A note from the candidates for the Ward 1 City Council seat, C Wiley and Marie Long: Although we are running on different platforms, the commonality in our campaigns is that we care very deeply about the people in our ward and Maplewood, at large. If there’s one message we’d like to share together, let it be this: we’re running for you. We approach this race with the utmost respect for one another and recognize that we share a vision to create a safe and welcoming community for all our neighbors. We feel strongly that vitriol and divisive speech only further drive people apart rather than creating the unity we wish to see in Maplewood. As Election Day approaches, we invite you to join the conversation with intention and kindness, especially through online platforms.
