Woman maces Maplewood Commons employee, police say

Latisha WoodsIn a new twist on a shoplifting attempt, a woman disabled a Maplewood Commons employee with mace, but was caught eventually.

On Nov. 8, Latisha Woods, 33, was confronted by a loss prevention officer after a suspected theft, according to Maplewood police.

The woman reached into her purse, pulled out a can of mace and sprayed the loss prevention officer in the face, then fled the business, police say.

Maplewood detectives were later able to identify the suspect. She was arrested on Dec. 3 and charged with assault in the third degree and stealing.
