Many of you have closely followed the story that has brewed over the last 10 years concerning Woodside. Many of you read about the City deciding to demolish it. Residents spoke out against the city, the council, and the powers that be. We wanted Woodside saved. Residents mounted grassroot campaigns; signing the petition, going to the council meetings, writing letters, and making calls. Woodside was even vaulted to the back cover of This Old House magazine.
Well the city officially has it for sale. $25,000.
What’s the catch? You have to be an owner occupant, or flipper which means it can not be rented. Also the city cares about maintaining the historical nature of the exterior; no vinyl windows or siding. Lastly it must be maintained as a single family residence.
So has anybody made an offer? Well there has been tremendous interest. I had a brief but fruitful phone conversation with the city manager Marty Corcoran. According to Corcoran two separate offers have been received so far.
So in short I believe that we did it 40 south. There is still a long way to go, but the future looks bright for Woodside. Saved.
