At the corner of Eager Road and Brentwood Boulevard are two of Brentwood’s newest businesses: the Drury Inn, and the Bonefish Grill, which opened in October. A Riverfront Times reviewer called the grill’s signature appetizer, Bang Bang Shrimp tasty, but it went downhill from there.

The writer noted the restaurant’s busy parking lot and inviting atmosphere, but said the warm feelings didn’t translate into the meal.

She had bones to pick with the butterflied shrimp and crab cakes, and said the entrées were ‘troubled’. She said her her salmon was dried-out and she was ‘underwhelmed’ by the Lobster Thermidor Mahi Mahi.

She wrote that her twin lobster tails had a tough texture and the lobster grilled cheese had ‘barely enough cheddar and mozzarella.’

You get the idea. It went on for more than a thousand words.

She liked the wood-grilled Chilean sea bass: “brushed with a simple lemon butter, was one of the best pieces of fish I have had in recent memory. Earthy char from a well-seasoned grill flavored the pearlescent filet; its buttery flesh was cooked impeccably.”

  1. These cookie-cutter chains that shoehorn themselves as close as they can get to the big boxes — they’re over. Viva mom and pop, viva mixed use, viva the pedestrian-friendly.
