Though electronics retailer RadioShack has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, as reported in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the RadioShack in Brentwood (2518 South Brentwood Boulevard) made the cut, an employee said Friday.
“Others are closing as we speak,” he said. He also said the current clearance sale doesn’t mean the Brentwood store is closing.
He said the Brentwood location is one of 12 stores in the St. Louis area to remain open. Up to 2,400 stores are due to close nationally.
RadioShack’s largest shareholder, General Wireless, has agreed to buy 1,500 to 2,400 of the company’s U.S. stores. Sprint may open mini-shops in as many as 1,760 of the acquired RadioShack stores.
