While St. Louis was hosting the world at the 1904 World’s Fair, the city also was home to the 1904 Summer Olympics, the first to be held in the United States. There are many stories of intrigue, firsts, and some not-so-glamorous events to be shared through photographs from the Missouri History Museum’s collection.
Jody Sowell is Director of Exhibitions and Research at the Missouri History Museum. In his eight years at the Museum, he has served as curator, oral historian, writer, and consultant for community groups working on their own history projects. Join us as the world gets ready to watch the next Olympic Games.
