Unfortunately food deserts — areas where affordable and healthy food is hard to obtain — exist in St. Louis. SLU FoodCorps, a project of the St. Louis University Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, has been active in producing and providing healthy, local food to city dwellers for over a decade. Aaron McMullin, an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer working with FoodCorps, will be the speaker for the October edition of the Green Speaker Series. Come hear Aaron describe the work of supplying healthy, locally-grown food to city residents without ready access to it.
