Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization that began in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions and has grown to involve millions of people in over 160 countries.

Our local chapter, Slow Food St. Louis, promotes St. Louis food culture based on the enjoyment of eating locally-produced, healthy, and delicious foods. Brian DeSmet is a volunteer, board member, and treasurer for the local chapter, and oversees Cropsourcing: Project Garlic, a crowd-sourced community project. Brian is also a St. Louis Master Gardener and managed the Schlafly Farmers Market for many years.
