MRH has six players unable to play, along with others with minor injuries from last week’s game against Clayton, the school reports. MRH lost to Clayton 28-0.

There is no JV or freshman team, and has lost players to transfers.

Senior running back Elijah Keely transferred to Francis Howell North this year, and senior wide receiver Reggie Gwynn to Lindbergh, STL Today reports.

MRH will be required to forfeit the game, which will put the team’s record at 1-2. The Blue Devils defeated Confluence 26-14 in its first game.

“It was a tough decision to make because our kids want to play,” MRH Athletic Director Rich Nixon said in the statement. “However the coaches and I feel it’s in our players best interests to take the extra week to get healthy. We do not want to further compromise the health of our student athletes by playing them out of position.”

The Blue Devils’ next game will be at home against Normandy on Saturday, September 13 at 1 p.m.

Brentwood (2-0) plays Sumner (2-0) at home Friday.
