Brentwood police officers attended the funeral on Tuesday for Officer Kerrie Orozco out of respect for her service and to join thousands of other officers who mourn for her family and the Omaha Police Department, the Brentwood department posted on Facebook.
Orozco was hit by a single bullet just above her protective vest in a shooting on May 20. She was a member of the Omaha Police Department’s gang unit, according to CBS. Another officer returned fire and hit the 26-year-old shooting suspect. Both Orozco and suspect died at an Omaha hospital.
She had a daughter born prematurely on Feb. 17. The original due date was May 26, the date of her funeral.
