In spite of trophy heads, piano bar set to open in Maplewood

Don’t be fooled by the trophy moose heads in the window at the now vacant space at Manchester and Sutton.

The corner that’s been a piano bar, a burlesque/variety show and a pizza/ribs place in the past five years is set to be the new home for Jukebox Piano Bar — run by two of the former owners of Jive and Wail, which closed there in 2010.

The moose heads are remnants of the recent attempt to open a dinner theater there with a rustic Alaska theme. Jukebox Piano Bar general manager, Andrew Graefe, said they didn’t know what to do with the heads, so for now they’re on display.

Update: the moose heads are gone from the windows.

Greafe was pulling birch bark wood off the bar Wednesday evening. He said they hope to open in about a month.

  1. Might be an opportunity for someone to re-use the Alaska themed leftovers. I saw that moose head in the window and was surprised that who-ever originally purchased that would have left it behind.
