According to police records, on Oct. 7 at 4:47 p.m. Reginald Luckett, 33, of 505 North 32nd Street, East St. Louis, left the Maplewood Walmart with more than $500 worth of merchandise without paying — a Class C felony.
Maplewood police reported that Luckett selected a trash can from the displays and placed it into a shopping cart. He then selected 35 canisters of infant formula and hid them inside the trash can.
He placed a case of Pepsi in the cart, then pushed it out of the store without making any attempt to pay. He was arrested by Maplewood police, who had responded to a report of the theft in progress.
The stolen merchandise had a total value of $571. Luckett is being held on a $5,000 bond.
