The Crow’s Nest restaurant, at 7336 Manchester Road, will be knocking down walls and incorporating the next-door space of the newly-moved Maven Apothecary at 7328 Manchester.
Crow’s Nest owner Eliza Coriell said Sunday that the kitchen will stay the same size so new dining can’t be added, so the new area will be used for arcade games. Popcorn and similar food will be available.
She said the new space is in a different building so two walls will need to be broken through. She didn’t want to try to estimate when the work could be completed.

Thomas, Thank you for your input. You seem very knowledgeable about the properties and the city of Maplewood. As I read down through your replies, I see that you are becoming more emotional about the subject.
As far as the city codes are concerned, the city will handle that. Your concern is not necessary. The appearance of the properties are not your concern, either, unless you, personally, will pay for the upgrades.
I’m sure that your opinions will be read and it is your right to make them.
I am glad that Crow’s Nest is doing well. I eat there frequently and enjoy the place. I also like the appearance of the ‘main drag’ including the businesses that you mentioned.
I like the idea of seeing Crows Nest expand.

It is interesting to me how separate building owners with separate insurance companies or policies can accomplish the fire liabilities, cutting a hole in a Party Walls.
The final option described in the IBC for the wall between two abutting buildings is a party wall. A party wall is described in the IBC as “Any wall located on a lot line between adjacent buildings, which is used or adapted for joint service between the two buildings…” (IBC 706.1.1). I have been in the attics of several builds along the Sutton and Manchester looking east, and my first impression was “This is a Firemen nightmare” Most citizens are not aware that fire protection in a building is in place for the firemen fighting a fire, do to the danger of collapse of a building on fire.
