The Maplewood Chamber of Commerce features a Chamber Member business to feature each month. This month, it is Richmond Terrace, an assisted living community for seniors at 1633 Laclede Station Rd.
When did you open your business in this community?
Richmond Terrace is an assisted living community that was purchased by Lutheran Senior Services in 2001. It enjoys a rich history of service as it was originally the site of the New Lincoln School which for decades provided education for African American children in the local community.
How would you describe what you do?
The 80 assisted living apartments at Richmond Terrace offer a combination of housing, personal care, and supportive services that make it possible for residents to retain as much independence as possible. Located just a few miles from the heart of Maplewood, it’s the perfect location for living with assistance, remaining engaged in the community, and continuing to live close to family and friends.
How many employees do you have?
Our 52 employees make up a warm, caring staff who become extended family the moment you walk in the door.
What makes your business different than others in the same industry or profession?
Richmond Terrace is part of Lutheran Senior Services (LSS), a not-for-profit organization offering a spectrum of programs and services that address a wide variety of needs. At Richmond Terrace our specialty is assisted living; however, through the LSS network we are able to connect older adults to low-income housing, in-home services, and other levels of licensed care. A great place to start with questions is our free LSS Aging Answers Referral Line at 314-446-2475.
What is the most exciting thing happening right now with your business?
It’s no secret that our society is aging. What might surprise you, however, is that St. Louis ranks 5th in the nation for seniors 65 and older (source: East-West Gateway Council of Governments). It’s enriching to be part of an organization committed to meeting the ever-growing needs within the framework of our Christian mission: Older Adults Living Life to the Fullest. Not only do we care for physical, social, and emotional needs, but we also tend to the spiritual needs of our residents, families, and staff through the care of chaplains.
How can the community get involved with your organization?
Just as we want to provide services that benefit the greater community, we are energized through the engagement of others in the community. We welcome volunteers who love making a difference in the lives of others, both through long-term or short-term opportunities for serving. Give us a call or visit www.RichmondTerraceLiving.org/volunteering.
How can we learn more about your organization?
We’re located at 1633 Laclede Station Road and welcome a visit. Tours can be arranged by calling 314-646-8000 and asking for Katrie or visit www.RichmondTerraceLiving.org to learn all about us.
Interesting, I did not know that Richmond Terrace was an assisted living facility for seniors.
