Fortunately for Brentwood and unfortunately for Maplewood Richmond Heights, their second meeting, in the first round of Class 2 football playoffs, confirmed the regular season for both teams.

The Eagles took the first game, early in the season, 42-22. On a chilly, muddy night in Brentwood, the Eagles ended the Blue Devils’ season 46-0.

Brentwood’s perfect record was extended to 10-0 and MRH finished at 1-9.

Brentwood got touchdowns from Jake Zivic (2), Austin Koster (2), Jacob Clay, Will Erby and Justice Bratcher.

The slippery conditions seemed to hamper MRH more than Brentwood. MRH coach J. C. Kime only made a quick comment about mistakes after the game.

Brentwood coach Keith Herring said, “Offensively, the wet weather didn’t bother us a bit.”

Brentwood will play Lutheran North (6-4) at Brentwood in round two next Wednesday. The district final is Nov. 11.
