Brentwood residents plan to scour the area around where Brentwood teen Sam Heisel’s wrecked car was found in O’Fallon, MO, on Tuesday. Heisel has been missing since then.

The O’Fallon Fire Protection District suspended its ground search on Sept. 6, according to a comment by John Nuernberger on an earlier post here. He also said many people, dogs, and helicopters have been involved in the search.

Nuernberger shared details for how to volunteer for the ongoing search, on Sept. 7.

“We will meet at 9 a.m. in the Hope Bible Church (173 Pieper Road, O’Fallon, MO 63366) parking lot. We have half-mile grids that we will send two to four people to search at a time. Searching is our primary need right now, but please know that a lot of the terrain is very rugged and much is covered in heavy brush. Boots, long pants, and long sleeves are advised for those planning to search on foot.

“We are also trying to get word out still to people we may have missed so if you are unable to search on foot, canvassing the area by car and handing out fliers is also very much appreciated and needed. There will be someone in the church parking lot all day, so please come whenever you are able.”

Contact the Brentwood Police Department with any tips at 314-644-7100.
