The Metro-St. Louis Community Tax Coalition (MCTC) is a free program offered by the IRS to help low to moderate income families who cannot prepare their own tax returns.
Maplewood Public Library was one of 18 MCTC locations in the St. Louis area for the 2014 tax season. Library staff helped schedule the appointments.
Trained and certified community volunteers helped individuals with credits such as Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Credit, Education Credits, and Credit for the Elderly or the Disabled.
MCTC said in an email that the Maplewood library has grown to be one of its most successful sites.
