Area chiropractor, Dr. William Madosky, for the past 14 years has done the MS ride, and asked for contributions, which he said in a letter to potential donors this year have shown “great generosity for which I am and will always be grateful.”

This year Madosky is making two rides for two different causes. He wrote a letter describing them:

“Times change and this year I am departing from the MS ride to create a charity ride to honor two friends and organizations that they hold dear. Over Labor Day I will ride a one-day, 100-mile ride on the KATY Trail from Jefferson City to St Louis. All donations collected with be divided between Bicycle Works, a St Louis based organization and Pedal the Cause, an organization raising money for local cancer research. Please let me take a few paragraphs to tell you why and how you can help.

“Earlier this year my friend Maggie Duwe was diagnosed with a form of breast cancer for which she is currently receiving treatment. Maggie’s strategy for recovery includes helping others going through their crisis and has created “Team Magster” to help raise funds for local cancer research in the annual Pedal the Cause bicycling event in September. Maggie plans to ride 50 miles on that day over a pretty difficult course which is an indication of her commitment to regain her health and help others do the same.

“In March a long time riding buddy of mine, Ric Moreno, was struck by a car while walking through a pedestrian crosswalk in Florida and did not survive. Ric believed in supporting organizations promoting bike use and safety especially for kids and was a longtime supporter of BicycleWorks, also known now as BWorks because they help kids learn about bikes, bits(computers) and books (reading).

“This will be a very emotional ride and physically challenging as well. I have never ridden 100 miles in one day on the unpaved surface of the KATY Trail and will do so without the benefit of any organized rest stops or support vehicles, carrying what I need with me. I anticipate it will take me 10-12 hours to complete.”

Here are ways you can help:

  • Write a check to Pedal the Cause and in the memo line write: Team Magster.
  • Write a check to St. Louis BWorks and in the memo line write: In memory of Ric Moreno.

Send the check(s) to Madosky Chiropractic (2175 Big Bend, St Louis 63117) and he will pass them on.
