A St. Louis man has been charged with passing bad checks when he used a check, knowing there was a negative balance in the account, to pay for work done at Autohaus BMW in Maplewood on March 20, 2015, according to court records.

Records say Arnaud D. Jones, 33, of the 3900 block of Delmar Boulevard wrote a check for $1,750 payable to Autohaus knowing it would not be paid.

The Maplewood police report states Jones used the check to pay for repairs to his 2003 BMW. It was returned unpaid because the bank account had been frozen.

Police investigation confirmed that the account had a negative balance when check was passed, which is what prompted the bank to freeze the account. It was closed by the bank several weeks later.

Jones was charged with a Class C felony and held on a $10,000 bond.
