A man with a Brentwood address has been has been charged with two counts of fraudulently attempting to obtain a controlled substance, according to police and court records.

On Nov. 26, 2015, at the Brentwood Walgreens, Justin Keith Darnel, 33, of the 2700 block of  Mary Avenue, presented a fraudulent prescription for fentanyl, which was filled by the pharmacy. The fraudulent prescription was not discovered until several days later, after Darnel, on Dec. 6, presented another fraudulent prescription (this one for oxycodone) and pharmacy employees became suspicious. They contacted the doctor who was listed on both prescription forms and confirmed the prescriptions were fraudulent.

Darnel was arrested two weeks later when he returned to the pharmacy. He denied any knowledge of the forged prescriptions.
