In Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich’s follow-up report on Tuesday at the Brentwood Recreation Center, he said Brentwood had implemented 98 percent of the recommendations from his audit of the city.
Of those not implemented, his recommendations for personnel policies were listed as ‘in progress.’
Mayor Pat Kelly, when asked after the meeting what the hardest policy to address was, said the the electronic payroll system was still a challenge.
“You have firemen who are on 48-hour schedules, policemen on 12-hour shifts, public works and those guys are on 8-hour shifts along with the rest of the employees,” he said. “We have recommended the implementation of software such as Paychex flex, although it could be months before anything can be done on this front.”
Kelly said it’s difficult to come up with a system able to be used city-wide, and if it is done, may be too expensive.
“The city and staff has probably been working on that for almost a year,” he said. “Even working with companies like ADP who do this every day, to do it on a broad scale like this is very difficult.”
What every other city is doing is apparently very difficult for Brentwood officials!
Right Maureen! Lets see Mr. Mayor. On your lunch hour at Eagle Bank borrow a phone and call the mayors in Glendale, Webster, Florissant, Manchester, Valley Park, or just wait till your monthly luncheon and ask how their city handles it. Problem solved. Please resign.
How do other Citys manage this issue?
