Brentwood officials are set to vote to modify their own pay at the board of aldermen meeting on Monday.

The current code states that the board of aldermen shall determine the compensation of elected officials and city employees with the adoption of the annual budget.

If passed the code would state that the salary of an officer elected or appointed for a fixed term would not change during the time he or she was elected or appointed. Any change in compensation would be performed by a separate ordinance; not by the budget.

Brentwood’s contract with the St. Louis County Department of Health for mosquito control services expired in February 2016. Officials will consider a new contract with the county for five years for adulticiding and larvaciding, as “the City of  Brentwood  provides fogging.”

The official Brentwood statement on mosquito control:

2016 Mosquito Fogging in Brentwood

The Brentwood Public Works Department has been fogging for mosquito’s during the summer months from the end of May thru the end of September. Fogging takes place every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., weather permitting, Fogging is a process by which to achieve mosquito control and manage their population. Another technique to manage the mosquito population is by larviciding which is the killing of larvae, or adulticiding, which is the killing of adult mosquitoes. The City contracts with St. Louis County for both.

The City has a No Spray List which allows residents the opportunity to request we not spray in front of their home.  The City turns off the machine in these areas. In providing this service to Brentwood residents, we have been able to provide better and more efficient service. To help eliminate the mosquito population remember to look for and remove any standing water on your property.

If you experience problems with mosquitos during the summer months, please contact the Public Works Department at 314-963-8642.
