Eager Road not being cleaned of construction dirt: resident

A Brentwood Forest resident emailed 40 South News that when the original Manhasset Village was demolished, “street cleaners were driving up and down Eager Road in Brentwood Forest at least twice a day.”

The resident, T. del Rosario, said that’s not the case now, and wanted to know if there are plans for street sweeping during construction of the new apartments north of Eager Road in Richmond Heights.

“Now the cars and unit fronts are covered in visible brown earth stains from dirt kicked up by the trucks driving around,” del Rosario said. “All glass surfaces are filthy since all the turf was upturned. Have you heard any plans for street sweeping again? I only ask because it was done before.”

Brentwood administrator, Bola Akande, said the streets are supposed to be kept clean during construction, according to a Richmond Heights ordinance.

“Ordinance No. 5249 adopted by the City of Richmond Heights, Section 2 says all public streets shall be kept continuously clean during all construction activities,” she said by email. “The City of Brentwood has been in contact with both the City of Richmond Heights and Holland Construction Services and expects them to fully comply with the provisions in that ordinance.”

  1. I live on Eager between both construction sites and the truck traffic is terrible. This I have tolerated but the mud and now the dust is intolerable since I am alergic to the dust and it has made me sick and hard to breath. Please I hope they do something about this fast.
