Brentwood senior Jacob Clay has been named a St. Louis Post-Dispatch Athlete of the Week for Sept. 3.
Clay carried the ball 16 times for 294 yards and seven touchdowns in last week’s 54-18 win over Kennedy. He carried seven times for 184 yards and three touchdowns against Crystal City in a 58-6 win in the first game of the season. Clay’s 10 touchdowns on the season leads the area.
Last season, Clay earned all-district and second team all-state honors, rushing for 2,554 yards and 44 touchdowns.
The Post-Dispatch also notes that Clay was part of the Eagles’ 400 relay team that finished fifth at the state meet last spring.
Brentwood plays Sumner (1-1) at Brentwood Thursday at 7 p.m.
