Maplewood City Council approved the demolition of a nuisance property, a 12-unit apartment building at 2270-2272 Yale Avenue in December 2013, but soon after that a developer bought the building not realizing it was slated to come down.

The city had to wait a year after the sale to demolish the building, city public works director, Anthony Traxler said. He also said the building will be brought down slowly because a house is close to it on the north side. There are no plans to develop the lot other than to make it green space for kids to play on.

  1. Seriously????? This was my very first apt right out of high school back in the mid 70s. Worked at the Jack in the Box in Maplewood and this was a nice affordable apt building. Though I still live close by didn’t know it was left in ruin like this…damn shame!
