The former Church’s Chicken in Maplewood, at “The Wedge,” the corner of Manchester Road and Southwest Avenue is available, after Church’s Chicken closed its doors last month.

What’s next is up in the air, but things are in the works.

A real estate representative for Church’s Chicken said they’re looking to sublease the corner, and are currently vetting brokers.

He said Bus Loop Burgers is interested in the location. Another other Bus Loop Burgers is at 6111 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, which is the old Wellston Streetcar Loop building (which is a pretty cool building.)

  1. I can think of three other places that serve burgers in Maolewood. Let’s try something different. We have Mexican, bar food, burgers, Greek, Italian, pizza and a micro brewery but no sushi, Japanese, Thai or Indian food. No ice cream shop either.

    • I guess calling y’all ‘Crabs’ was inappropriate….from one who does not care for ‘name calling’ I apologize. Just thought all of your posts sounded crabby. Peace~!!~

  2. Doug, I think you are unfairly biasing locals against this establishment by calling it a chain. Based on the comments here and on Facebook that your headline has already generated, people have in their heads a McDonalds-like establishment. This is far from the reality, and I would hate for residents to get the wrong impression and not support a valid choice for the spot. I respectfully ask that you alter the headline at least with the addition of the adjective “local” before chain. After all, as Ian noted, Strange Donuts is technically a chain too.

  3. No. Brentwood and Maplewood and Richmond Heights have a stable relationship within communities. There should be an INCENTIVE for a privately owned company–like a second Spiral Stone, or the international home of all things re to spices.— Sorry I cannot remember the name. Brentwood, Maplewood and Richmond Heights DESERVE the community they bought into—not another fast food chain. Give the people a chance. love, Maureen. Combine this story with the story of the overloaded, excessively lengthen truck incident and LOOK CAREFULLY AT WHAT WE ARE BECOMING. Are we a neighborly “truck stop” or tourist stop? if so, be sure to let the realtors. make it a legal requirement in new home buying. love Maureen.

    • Maureen – The term ‘chain’ is a little off here. As far as I can tell, there is one other Bus Loop Burgers, and it is locally owned and operated in Wellston. Should the people of Kirkwood protest Strange Donuts new location because ‘No More Donut Chains!’?

    • Calm down, Maureen. I hardly think a local business with one other location will signify the impending doom of Maplewood. And since when did 40 South News readers become so rude? Calling a fellow reader “money hungry” is hardly civil. I have grown to expect such ad hominem attacks in an article about Brentwood government, but I prefer the comments I read in articles about my community to be more respectful of divergent views.

    • Ian, you may now sit down. You are likely young and money / power hungry, and think in those terms. This area is historically locally owned and operated by involvement with the local populous. Weigh your sentiments within the greater population, by using your BOA, ===and not just a finance calculator. And yes, I lack diplomacy. However there is nothing unclear about my words. love, Maureen.

      • Yes, Maureen has a passion but I would use this as an example that passion can be misplaced. Stating that you “lack diplomacy” is not strong enough- your words are toxic when it comes to a civil discourse and not reflective of the Maplewood people. But I am assuming most who have read many of your comments can see this clearly, as you say.

      • You are rude, Maureen. Take your vitriol elsewhere—I’m sure the Riverfront Times would love to hear your caustic comments.

        • Maureen is a regular submitter on stories on Brentwood BOA, and I’ve never known her to be rude. Let’s hope it was a really bad day. And, Maureen, a second location does not a chain make.
