A Maplewood voter said she saw about a dozen observers at the polls at Maplewood City Hall at 7 a.m. on Tuesday wearing name tags bearing the Canadian flag.
Eric Fey, St. Louis County Election Board, Democratic director of elections, responded on Wednesday that several Canadian election officials were in St. Louis to observe the election.
Fey said Missouri state law allows international election observers in polling places as long as they are credentialed by the St. Louis County Election Board.
Fey has also served as an election observer, and said he’s met most of the observers who were here from Canada on some of his international election observations. “They were a great group and really enjoyed the chance to observe our election yesterday,” he said.

Thank you, Doug Miner, for looking into this! Good of you to follow up and verify what I saw. I suppose they came to Maplewood City Hall because of its proximity to the County Election Board headquarters. So grateful for your vigilance and committed work. All the best!
I figured they came to Maplewood because of our common use of the Maple leaf, and because we have a Tim Horton’s.
Ah, yes! Thanks, Jesse Nenninger!
