County Executive Charlie Dooley is set to recommend at the June 24 county council meeting that the city of Brentwood receive a grant of $267,331 from the Emergency Communications Commission for its costs associated with joining  the East Central Dispatch Center.

Eric Fey, administrative assistant to St. Louis County Councilman Pat Dolan (5th District), sent this to 40 South News.

Brentwood officials voted in March for the city to join the shared dispatch district.

  1. My question is this. If it is costing the taxpayers of Brentwood over $260,000 Why were we never made aware of that? Or was that the reason we moved our dispatch services to get that windfall? It sure appears that a lot of information was nto divulged to the community! where is the working in transparacny in this one?

    • Kay, this information was intentionally withheld from the public. When information was publically discussed in three previous attempts for the Mayor to outsource the dispatchers the change was defeated. So this 4th cycle of negotiations had Mayor Kelly using “closed meetings” to get what the Citizens did NOT want. That is why the details were withheld. A populous vote would have rejected a 4th go around for the Mayor.

I understand the rank and file FR’s as well as residents did not want this. ECDC’s unreliable services to Brentwood. Now Brentwood will be added to all the other Cities who faced failed emergency communications during the time of the Mayor’s negotiations with ECDC.” The Mayor was a childish, patronizing fool, and the Residents indeed were left unrepresented.

  2. another correction: line 3: “needs fresh blood in political position and not to be filled by candidates who use money badly…” I apologize—I need new glasses. 😉

  3. re Charlie Dooley: He is another entrenched politician, trying to buy County votes using other people’s money, to dig out the St. Louis City long term spending habits. As our whole country needs the City of Brentwood needs fresh blood in political positions to be filled by candidates who use money badly, to buy favour.
