The next step for Maplewood’s QuikTrip move to the northwest corner of Manchester and Big Bend is scheduled.
The last utility connection (water) to the old Auto Plaza Ford building has been destroyed, and demolition will begin Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, according to property owner Dan Lesseg. He didn’t have a specific time.
Lesseg said the demolition and cleanup would probably take longer than for the Shoney’s building, which was on the southeast corner of the same intersection. It took about a week to demolish and haul away Shoney’s. He couldn’t say what the construction schedule for the QuikTrip is. Lesseg’s family owns both properties.
Maplewood voters passed Proposition Q by almost 70 percent in April, which approved the QuikTrip move from 3010 South Big Bend Boulevard to the new location.
QuikTrip is also building a new store in Richmond Heights.
Really stinks that all the kids that have to walk to school will now have to walk farther in bad weather. Should have been torn down over the summer!!

Does anyone know what will move into QT’s old property at 3010 Big Bend?
QT overkill! 🙂
