The Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Richmond Heights, was 100 years old in 2012. The property was sold to Rengaw, a company organized by Daniel J. Wagner last year. This week the church was demolished to make way for a new retail center.

The property is at 1500 S. Hanley Road, opposite Home Depot.

Rengaw is developing a 14,000-square foot shopping center on the property that will include a new QuikTrip, at 1530 S. Hanley Road. QuikTrip is set to close on that property in December and begin construction in early 2014, according to Haley Kappes, Richmond Heights public relations coordinator.

The Richmond Heights city council approved a new Menards store to be built in the southern section of the Hadley Township in October.

  1. So what happened to the congregation? After celebrating 100 years and selling their church, I hope they didn’t disband.
