The Maplewood, Brentwood and Richmond Heights police departments are taking part in the nationwide Drug Diversion Program (Drug Take-Back Day) sponsored by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
The DEA is coordinating the one-day effort with state and local law enforcement agencies to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s homes.
The program is designed to give the public an opportunity to dispose of their unwanted prescription medications. Expired, unused or unwanted controlled substances in our homes can fuel abuse and are an unacceptable risk to public health and safety, according to the Maplewood Police department.
The event is on Saturday, April, and runs from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
- Maplewood Police Department, 7601 Manchester Road
- Richmond Heights Public Safety Building, 7447 Dale Avenue
- Brentwood Police Department, 272 Hanley Industrial Court
A police officer will collect the medication and forward it to the DEA for disposal. The service is free and anonymous.
Anybody know if they also take out of date OTC medications. I am reluctant to just throw them in the trash of simply flush them.
