The Veterans Day ceremony at the Mid-County Veterans Memorial at The Heights on Sunday afternoon included remarks by Rocky Sickmann, one of 52 Americans held hostage for 444 days in Iran almost four decades ago.

Tyler Phipps, Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 362 who oversaw construction of the concrete bases for two new statues at the memorial for his Eagle Scout award, unveiled the statues.

New pavers added to the memorial this year commemorate David Whitney, Rocky Sickmann and Michael W. Rhodes.

  1. What a great time to remember our brothers and sisters who took time out of their life to serve. Also a great way to show the younger group that you need to give of yourself and help others. Four stars out of four to Boy Scout Troop 362 for a job well done! We are in good hands.
