Following an accident that damaged the former Applegate’s, at 1910 S. Brentwood Boulevard, Brentwood city staff is reviewing proposed work to convert the space into an Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Resubmittal Title SheetBrentwood director of planning and development, Justin Wyse sent city deputy clerk, Octavia Pittman an email July 28 with details on separate building permits for repair from the accident, and converting the space to an Einstein Bros.

Wyse said the city has not issued permits for work to build out an Einstein Bros. Bagels, however permits for the work are in house and under review. Wyse summarized the permitting status on this project.

  • The city previously issued building permits that covered the repair of the damage that was done to Applegate’s from the car accident. This work did not include anything that would have converted the space to a different user.
  • After the permit for repair work was issued, the applicant submitted a permit for interior finish work that included Einstein Bros. Bagels.
  • The city did an initial review of the plans and issued comments.
  • After the comments were issued, we did not hear back from the applicant for some time.
  • They resubmitted plans last week to address these comments and the plans are under review with the department.
