The Maplewood United Methodist Church recently contacted the Professional Firefighters of Maplewood Community Outreach to help a Maplewood resident with home repairs, the firefighters reported on their Facebook page, and the firefighters came through.
Firefighter Matt Wilcox said on Tuesday the city “was putting the press on the owner because the neighbors were complaining — rightfully so — it was falling out of ordinance.”
The firefighters’ outreach removed and replaced the soffit and the fascia on the home. He said Maplewood United Methodist will follow up and paint what the firefighters installed.
Wilcox said funds for their work came from the Professional Firefighters of Maplewood trivia night in February. “This is what we raised money for in the trivia night, for cases like this, to give it back to the community like this,” he said.
This is one of the many reasons I love Maplewood. We are a fine community.
