The St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that Shana Jones, the former city council member also known for her COVID-19 relief work with her “Grab-N-Go Table,” has pleaded guilty to a fraud-related felony.

Jones pleaded guilty last week in St. Louis County Circuit Court to a charge of filing false documents — her fifth felony since 2004, according to the Post-Dispatch. She’s being given five years probation and 80 hours of community service, not the sentence handed down on Friday of three years in prison.

The charges against Jones related to her failure in October 2021 to disclose correct information, including her past felony convictions, when she filed as a candidate for the Maplewood City Council. She was elected in 2022, but stepped down after only five months after talk of her former convictions came to light.

St. Louis County Councilwoman Lisa Clancy was a supporter, and several Maplewood leaders including former Mayor Nikylan Knapper recruited Jones to run for the Ward 1 city council seat.
