Fred Wolf, former Maplewood councilman, dies

Fred Paul Wolf, Jr., former Maplewood City Councilman, died on March 22, according to an obituary from Jay B. Smith Funeral Homes.

Mr. Wolf was born in 1929 in St. Louis and grew up in Maplewood, attending Maplewood High School. He married Peggy Anne Delbridge in 1953.

He was a  Korean War veteran, serving as a sergeant in the army from 1951-1953. He also served as a Maplewood city councilman for twenty years.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 31, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Jay B. Smith Maplewood Chapel, with a reception at Maplewood City Hall from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The funeral will be Monday, April 2 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial and full military honors to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to L’Arche St. Louis, 2900 Marshall Avenue, Maplewood, MO.

  1. Fred and I worked together for 8 years while I was Mayor. Fred Wolf was always a kind and honest person and he cared very deeply about his beautiful family and our community. Thank you Fred for your service to our nation, your service to all of the people of Maplewood and for your friendship. We are better for knowing you.
