A gift shop that’s been in business at Union Station for 12 years has decided to move to Maplewood.

It goes by the name Fat Sassy’s at Union Station (see it on Facebook), but co-owner, Mark Luedde (with his wife, Tara Luedde) said they will probably change the name when they move to 7405 Manchester Road, possibly to My Happy Place. Their lease begins on September 1. The location is was formerly Yokley’s Hair Salon.

Luedde said there’s not another store like this in Maplewood and thinks it will do well. He said Maplewood community development director, Rachelle L’Ecuyer, has been helpful in the move.

Another empty space nearby, the former Three Rivers Aikido, has had lots of interest, building owner Dan Slavin said. He said one potential tenant would be particularly good for Maplewood, and he’s holding out for them to see if it would work.

  1. Glad to hear of the card shop moving in…I think it will be a great addition to Maplewood. And they have parking behind the building too….hope they have an entrance from the back.
