The Maplewood Richmond Heights Board of Education at its September meeting approved girls fall softball, beginning in 2018, according to the district.
MRH Athletics Director Amber Jordan pitched the program; the board passed it unanimously.
The approximate startup cost is just under $11,000, covering bats, balls, catcher equipment, uniforms, and league and tournament fees. The girls will play at either Deer Creek Park or Ryan Hummert Park.
MRH currently offers volleyball and cross country for girls fall sports.
