About 75 kids have been playing soccer at Norm West Park, in Brentwood, this summer at the Heinemann Soccer camp.

Tom Heinemann grew up in Brentwood on Florence Avenue. When he was 11 he wanted to earn some money, and his mother, Janet, suggested he start a soccer camp, because that’s what he loved. He had five students in his first camp.

Heinemann has been pro for six years, and is currently a striker for the Ottawa Fury FC.  He still runs the camp in Brentwood and comes by when he can. His sister, Karlee, and cousin, Tucker Hively were coaching on Monday.

The students were naturally excited for US Soccer’s first World Cup match to take place later in the day.
